How Much Would You Pay for A Cell Phone?

By

Nokia has created a new subsidiary, Vertu Ltd., which is believed to be the world's first luxury phone company. The company is creating hand-made cellular phones which have price tags of more than $20,000.

The specially designed Vertu phones will be created in conjunction with Nokia, but they will all be custom designed for the individual users. Certain parts may be Nokia, but others are being made of high quality precious metals. The phone housings will also feature precious metals such as platinum, 18 carat white and yellow gold, and stainless steel.

While other phone manufacturers have made custom phones in the past encased in gold or diamonds the Vertu phones are unique in that the internal components of the phone have been redesigned as well as the exterior housing. The Vertu phone is more than a high cost covering of an existing phone. Another advantage of the Vertu phone is that internal components of the phone are said to be upgradeable without any need to replace the housing. This is an important fact given the relatively short lifespan of cellular phone technology.

So how much are you willing to pay for a cellular phone? The first phones of the Vertu line will sell for $21,240. This phone will feature a platinum case and a sapphire crystal glass screen. If there is a person on your gift giving list who has everything this may be the one thing they are missing.
