Mobile Command Systems, a subsidiary of Vancouver-based Peripheron Technologies, is unveiling its new NOMAD mobile, wireless printer at the CTIA Wireless IT and Internet Expo this week in Las Vegas.
According to Mobile Command Systems, NOMAD is being designed for the rigors of all types of mobile applications for companies with employees using handheld computers out in the field. The company said the battery-powered thermal printer offers multiple interfaces and modes of use and will be user-programmable. Mobile Command Systems said the architecture for the NOMAD printer includes fully flash upgradeable technology with modular components, which means web-based downloading of all drivers, updates, and fixes. Options include a magnetic stripe card reader, Bluetooth, 802.11b (Wi-Fi), external charger, a carrying case, vehicle mounting bracket, and a cigarette lighter adapter.
Mobile Command Systems said the printer uses a 4-1/4" width paper roll with drivers for Palm OS, Windows CE (Pocket PC 2002), and Windows. The printer is slated to be available in the first quarter of next year.
