Pumatech has made available Intellisync 5.1, the latest version of its desktop synchronization software for handheld devices. Version 5.1 software offers some new functions, including synchronization of email attachments, support for Microsoft Outlook Express software, and the ability to conduct live updates to Intellisync via the Web. With Pumatech's Intellisync 5.1, users can now synchronize email attachments between their PC and handheld device. The company said the inherent functionality of Pocket PC and Windows CE platforms, when combined with Intellisync 5.1, enables users to access, edit, compose and forward e-mail attachments. Intellisync 5.1 also allows users of Palm OS based handhelds to view attachment names and to forward those attachments to other users. Intellisync now offers user synchronization support for Microsoft Outlook Express personal information management application in addition to the list of applications already supported, including Microsoft Outlook and Schedule+, Lotus Notes and Organizer, Novell GroupWise, and ACT!.
According to the company, the new Live Update feature ensures that users start with the latest version of the Intellisync software. As part of the installation process, it checks the Web to determine if the user is installing the most recent version of the software and enables download of any updates that are available. The Live Update feature functions for 30 days after product registration, or for a longer period if the user is a member of Pumatech's Premier Subscription Service. The software also checks the Web periodically after installation for availability of newer versions and is able to facilitate a download if prompted by the user.
Intellisync 5.1 is available fpr $69.95. Members of Pumatech's Premier Subscription Service are entitled to a free upgrade, and current Intellisync users can upgrade to Intellisync 5.1 for $34.95.
