By Palm Boulevard Staff Handmark, a developer and publisher of PDA software, and SplashData, a developer of virtual wallet applications for Palm OS handhelds, have formed a relationship to bring SplashData's Wallet applications to retail. Under the terms of the agreement, Handmark has exclusive retail distribution rights for the Handmark branded SplashData titles, and SplashData will continue to offer the SplashData branded products online. The first two products, PDA Wallet and PDA Photo are now shipping to retail stores in the United States and Canada. The new Handmark PDA Photo is an updated and re-branded version of SplashPhoto. This desktop to PDA application is SplashData's image viewer for Palm OS handhelds. PDA Photo now includes support for ARM-based Palm OS5 handhelds (like the Palm Tungsten T and Sony CLIE NX70), high-resolution displays (such as those found in the Palm Tungsten and Sony CLIE), 12-bit displays and viewing of JPEG images stored on external memory cards. PDA Photo is also available in a bundle with a blank SanDisk 4MB MMC storage card, called PDA Photo Album. The companies said PDA Photo displays digital images on a handheld as thumbnails, full screen images or in a slide show. Images may be cropped, enhanced and installed on the handheld using PDA Photo Desktop, a desktop image editor for Windows and Mac OS. JPEG images may also be viewed directly from external memory cards, such as the Palm SD/MMC expansion card or Sony CLIE Memory Stick. The companies said PDA Photo supports virtually all black/white and color Palm OS handhelds. Images may be displayed on standard resolution (160x160), high-resolution (320x320) and high-resolution + (320x480) devices in 16-bit color, 12-bit color, 8-bit color or 4-bit grayscale. PDA Wallet is based on SplashData's integrated suite of virtual wallet applications. The PDA Wallet includes PDA Safe ID for securely storing personal identification information; PDA Photo simplifies viewing wallet-sized photos of friends and family; and PDA Money manages checking, credit and debit cards, and other expenses. PDA Money features an option to automatically upload transactions to the Windows desktop version of the Intuit Quicken application. The retail package also includes a special half-price bonus offer for PDA Shopping Lists - the ultimate shopping list manager. Retail packages are available now in retail stores. Both are PDA Photo (including the external storage MultiMediaCard) and PDA Wallet are being offered for $29.99. Related Links:
