Intermec Technology's GSM/GPRS-enabled 700 Series Pocket PC computer has received network approval by Rogers AT&T Wireless, a wireless communications service provider in Canada. The 700 Series is a rugged Pocket PC device that features a fully integrated GSM/GPRS radio. According to the Intermec, its 700 Series offers a broad range of radio options including GSM/GPRS, CDPD, Mobitex, and DataTAC for wide area coverage, 802.11b for local area connectivity, and Bluetooth technologies for cable-free communications with peripheral devices. "We're pleased to be working with Intermec to launch the 700 Series Pocket PC," said Mansell Nelson, vice president and general manager, Interactive Mobile Services, Rogers AT&T Wireless. "The Intermec 700 Series provides our field service customers with real-time access to a rugged computing device that enables countless wireless applications for industries such as oil and gas, public safety, courier and dispatch." Intermec said the 700 series is designed from the ground up for use in harsh environments, as it is capable of withstanding multiple 5-ft. drops to concrete and is sealed against rain and dust to IP64 standards.
