iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, and AppForge have agreed to include components of SQL Anywhere Studio from iAnywhere Solutions in the upcoming AppForge MobileVB 4.0.

The companies claim this agreement delivers a complete solution for cross-platform development of enterprise class database-powered handheld applications by combining iAnywhere Solutions relational database technology with AppForge's mobile application platform. The companies plans to demonstrate the integration of their products at Comdex this week.

"We chose to work with AppForge because its mobile application platform is easy to use and appeals to millions of Microsoft Visual Basic developers," said Rob Veitch, director of business development at iAnywhere Solutions. "With this announcement, developers can now create cross-platform database- powered mobile applications more easily and cost effectively than ever before."

The upcoming MobileVB v4.0 is slated to provide AppForge developers with support for Visual Basic .NET as well as additional device support. AppForge said it will also include the SQL Anywhere Studio UltraLite Development Environment for AppForge, which enables the development of small footprint application-optimized databases for memory-constrained environments such as mobile devices.
