By Palm Boulevard Staff Asynchrony Solutions has provided Palm, Inc. with a security application for the the new Tungsten Mobile Information Management (MIM) Solution. Palm implemented Asynchrony's PDA Defense Enterprise product into its Tungsten MIM Solution under the brand name "Security Plus." According to the companies, the Tungsten MIM Solution gives IT administrators control over handheld security policies, including mandatory password protection for end-users; length, complexity, and expiry of passwords; data encryption; and application access control. In addition, Asynchrony said Security Plus protects against theft and brute force password attacks with data-wipe functionality. The encryption capability protects data and applications on the device and expansion cards, with a choice of 128-bit or 512-bit symmetric key algorithm. Rebecca Taylor, senior product manager, Palm Solutions Group said "The protection of information and assets is crucial. Power-on authentication and data encryption should be the first line of defense for any handheld that holds sensitive data or connects to your corporate network." The Tungsten MIM Solution is slated to supports both the Palm i705 handheld and the Palm m500 series handhelds with Xircom Wireless LAN Module. Related Links:
