Mobile Automation, a provider of what it calls Mobile Lifecycle Management Software, has introduced Mobile Discovery Manager, an inventory tool that allows IT organizations to gather detailed hardware and software information from desktops, laptops and handheld devices.

According to Mobile Automation, Mobile Discovery Manager gives IT administrators the ability to seamlessly view their entire network of mobile systems by silently discovering and collecting system data without user intervention. By tracking hardware and software on all systems in one single database, Mobile Discovery Manager can organize and group systems according to any collected data. Tracking software licenses and usage, generating Web-based reports, and managing assets with detailed hardware configurations are functions that are a part of this new tool.

Mobile Automation said it develops mobile lifecycle management solutions that extend the reach of traditional LAN-focused IT organizations, to now include WAN and wireless networks. It provides tools for centrally managing software distribution, application self-healing, asset discovery, and remote control on mobile platforms. These platforms include all Windows OSs for PCs, and Windows CE, Palm OS and Blackberry for PDAs, Smart phones, and other handheld devices.
