Motorola today announced three new handsets for Cingular Wireless and T-Mobile customers, including one that doubles as a PDA.

The Motorola C331 was co-designed by Motorola and Cingular and is available in both GSM and TDMA versions. The companies said the phone is one of the first GSM 850/1900 handsets available in the United States with adaptive multi-rate vocoder (AMR).

Users can download polyphonic ring tunes or compose their own with the built-in MotoMixer on the C331 GSM model and the Motorola C332 for T-Mobile. The C332 also includes EMS 5.0 technology, which allows users with T-Mobile's t-zones service to add animations, pictures and music to text messages.
