Five Hospitals Add MercuryMD Mobile Patient Care System

By James Miller
November 7, 2002

MercuryMD, a company that integrates hospital data and delivers patient information to clinicians' handheld devices, today announced the company's successful implementation of its MData Enterprise System in five additional hospital systems, with at least five more systems scheduled for completion by the end of the year. Since MData's national rollout at the HIMSS 2002 conference in January, 14 hospital systems have contracted with MercuryMD to deploy MData across their enterprise.

By delivering data from existing information systems to clinicians' handheld devices, MData claims has been able to meet this challenge and create new workflow efficiencies for hospital customers. "Now more than ever, hospitals must achieve operational goals with fewer resources. In response, many are choosing mobile technologies to solve fundamental clinical workflow problems, such as patient data access. As clinicians require more data and demand more mobility, MData's strong user adoption and reliable functionality creates a foundation that delivers immediate operational value to hospitals," said Alan Ying, CEO of MercuryMD.

According to MercuryMD, its MData Enterprise System integrates hospital data and delivers patient information directly to clinicians' handheld devices enabling doctors, pharmacists, nurses and other healthcare professionals to have anytime access to current and comprehensive clinical data. This data can include up-to-date patient census lists, demographics, laboratory results, diagnostic reports, medication lists, and transcribed reports. MData supports both Palm OS and Pocket PC devices.
