The integration of movianVPN from Certicom into the Psion Teklogix netpad aims to addresses the security concerns of implementing mobile data solutions. Psion Teklogix plans to implement Certicom Corporation's movianVPN security solution with its netpad handheld computers running Windows CE .NET. According to Certicom, movianVPN is optimized to run on Windows CE .NET devices, giving mobile workers the ability to access enterprise applications and information they require in the field. movianVPN enables enterprise handheld devices like netpad to connect to existing wired VPN infrastructures. According to the companies, supporting IPSec and other standards enables movianVPN to deliver strong security without compromising performance or usability of the device. In addition, Certicom claims movianVPN fits with a wide range of deployment scenarios and offers gateway support for over 12 gateway platforms, including Cisco and Nortel. Norbert Dawalibi, President, Psion Teklogix, said "Certicom's movianVPN solution provides the flexibility and interoperability required to seamlessly address our customers' security needs without impacting the performance of our Windows CE .NET devices."
netpad is a rugged handheld with a 1/2 VGA color screen, aiming to bridge the gap between heavy-duty, keyboard-equipped industrial computers and less rugged PDA-like devices. Psion Teklogix said it is designed to fit in with industrial applications such as field force automation and tracking, tracing and delivery processes across many industry sectors.
