Companion Technologies plans to launch MD Rover this week, an application that puts its MegaWest Practice Management Suite for physician organizations in the palm of a doctor's hand. With MD Rover, Companion said physicians can access their MegaWest database features through a Palm-powered PDA, including their appointment schedule, patient billing information, hospital notes and procedures, encounter and charges, and patient medical notes. Physicians can review information and input data while mobile, then synchronize their hand-held computer with the database so information on both sides is always up to date. According to the company, MegaWest includes a core package of A/R billing, electronic message center, patient master, insurance claims processing, system security, standard and customized reporting and enterprise profiler, and optional modules for orthopedic specialty, community health centers, advanced collections, advance patient recall, medical records, imaging (MegaImage) and storing of electronic medical record text, and electronic remittance of claims.
Companiion's MedicWare 5.0 product already allows doctors to access all their clinic’s medical records through a PocketPC.
