The publisher of Physicians' Desk Reference, Thomson Medical Economics, a part of The Thomson Corporation has launched mobilePDR, a free handheld version of the PDR available for both the Palm OS and Pocket PC platforms.

By downloading mobilePDR from www.PDR.net, Thomson said clinicians will be able to research drugs on-rounds, in their office or at home. mobilePDR enables them to search for drugs by brand or generic name, indication, or therapeutic class. Clinicians can also check for possible drug interactions and view drug updates and critical information through a "What's New" link.

For each drug listed in mobilePDR, the company said the following information is provided: indications and contraindications; warnings and precautions; adult and pediatric dosing; how supplied; DEA class; manufacturer's name; adverse reactions; PDR page reference for full drug monograph; Black Box warnings when present, and more.

This mobile drug information product is available to all U.S.-based physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
