Belkin has introduced a Universal Serial Bus (USB) 8-in-1 Media Reader & Writer ($44.95) and a USB Media Reader & Writer for Memory Stick ($24.99). Both devices are compatible with PC and Macintosh computers and offer Plug-and-Play installation.

The Belkin USB 8-in-1 Media Reader & Writer works with CompactFlash I and II, SmartMedia, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, IBM Microdrive, Memory Stick, and MagicGate memory media. The company said it allows users to transfer, edit, and store their files at transfer speeds up to 12Mbps—40 times faster than through a serial port. It also features two slots that work with the eight different types of media.

The Memory Stick readert is slated to start shipping today, while the 8-in-1 model is set to begin shipping on August 1st.
