VoiceAge Corporation and Franklin Electronic Publishers have launched SPOTxde 'n'GO for eBookMan, a desktop encoding tool, either for professional or personal use, that the companies said makes any .wav and .avi audio files compatible with Franklin's eBookMan operating system 2.01 or greater. According to VoiceAge, SPOTxde 'n'GO is built around the ACELP core voice compression technology that is pivotal to AudibleReady devices and media platforms such as Real Media and Windows Media Architectures. “SPOTxde 'n'GO for eBookMan is the confirmation that the handheld industry is seeking to broaden the scope of interaction between users and their device”, said Catharie Béchamp, a VP at VoiceAge. “SPOTxde™'n'GO meets the objective it was set out to achieve by rapidly multiplying high quality audio sources and offering alternatives to accustomed syndicated content”, concluded Ms. Béchamp.
Franklin Electronic Publishers said it has sold more than 27,000,000 electronic books and currently publishes more than 200 titles, including dictionaries and bilingual dictionaries; encyclopedias; Bibles; entertainment titles; education and tutorial publications; and medical reference works.
