Handango has been selected by Nokia to run the Nokia Software Market for the Americas region.

Nokia's Americas' Software Market provides wireless applications for users of the Nokia 9200 Series Communicator. The software store is available by selecting "Shop for Software" at the Nokia website. The companies said users can now discover, purchase and install a wide variety of Symbian OS applications designed for work, home or play.

Handango and Nokia plan to work together to drive the distribution and availability of applications for Nokia handsets. The two firms said they will implement a number of online marketing programs as well as in-box advertising and promotions to drive application sales.

As a result of this relationship, Handango said it has intensified its efforts to promote software for the Nokia 9200 Series Communicator. The Handango Starter Pack, a collection of more than 500 applications, includes software for the Nokia Communicator. The companies said the Starter Pack contains the first Symbian OS software available for retail sale and is the first retail software package for the Nokia Communicator in North America. It is slated to be available in stores by the third quarter of this year. Further, Handango is launching the Handango Essentials Suite -- Nokia Communicator Edition, giving new users a single collection of what the company considers must-have, Handango-certified software applications at a discounted price.
