Handspring, Inc. announced thee appointment this week of William R. Slakey, 44, as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, effective September 30, 2002.

"We are delighted to welcome Bill to the Handspring executive team," said Handspring CEO Donna Dubinsky. "Bill is a seasoned finance executive with a proven track record. We are confident that with his breadth of experience in the wireless, handheld and personal computing industries, he will play an instrumental role at Handspring."

According to the company, Slakey was most recently Chief Financial Officer at WJ Communications, a RF semiconductor company. Prior to that, Slakey was CFO at SnapTrack, a QUALCOMM company created a GPS-based wireless tracking system for pinpointing wireless phones, PDAs, pagers and other wireless devices.
