Metrowerks, a provider of development tools and services for the wireless market, is adding support for the Intel XScale technology in its CodeWarrior Development Tools for ARM Embedded Systems.

According to the company, Version 1.2 of CodeWarrior Development Tools for ARM Embedded Systems, which begins shipping this month, will enable embedded software developers and device manufacturers to visually debug ARM processors based on Intel XScale technology, including the Intel PXA250 and Intel PXA210 processors.

Metrowerks said the visual debugging capability is designed to enhance ease-of-use compared to traditional command-line tools. Metrowerks' ARM tools are being demonstrated this week at the ARM Partner Meeting in Cambridge, UK. Metrowerks' development tools for ARM processors, first released in March 2002, enable developers to create a range of applications for ARM devices, including 2.5G and 3G mobile phones, as well as most handheld computers.
