By PocketPC City Staff Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has adopted AvantGo's Pylon Pro 5.0 for its employees' Pocket PC devices. A cross-platform software solution for a variety of devices, Avantgo said the expanded Pylon rollout now enables Underwriters Laboratories employees to access their Lotus Notes e-mail and personal information management information on both Pocket PC and Palm OS devices. UL is an independent, not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization. The company has tested products for public safety for more than a century, and each year, more than 17 billion UL Marks are applied to products worldwide. Today, AvantGo Pylon Pro software is deployed throughout UL's organization, enabling a variety of employees - from those conducting product safety testing to executive management - to access their e-mail and other personal information management data that resides in the corporate Lotus Notes system when they are on the go. Using AvantGo Pylon, Avantgo said businesses can mobilize their mission-critical Notes applications and databases, as well as PIM and e-mail data using a desktop or a server-based solution that supports multiple device types and does not require additional programming.
