SafeNet, a provider of Internet security technology, has made available SoftRemotePDA for the Pocket PC 2002. Compatible with any portable, handheld device using Pocket PC 2002 such as the Compaq iPAQ and Casio Cassiopeia, the company said SoftRemotePDA for the Pocket PC 2002 secures end-to-end connections between Pocket PC handheld devices and the corporate network. SoftRemotePDA for the Pocket PC 2002 is based on SafeNet's VPN software product, SoftRemote. According to SafeNet, SoftRemotePDA for the Pocket PC includes IPSec standard technology, 3DES and AES algorithms, MD5 and SHA-1 hashing algorithms, and interoperability with a wide variety of gateways. The company said this version of SoftRemotePDA uses IPSec and Internet Key Exchange (IKE) technology to protect sensitive data from one point to another while offering an easy-to-use interface. In addition, SoftRemotePDA for the Pocket PC 2002 also includes support for both tunnel and transport modes, IP payload compression, and protection against denial of service attacks. It is interoperable with IPSec-compliant firewalls, routers, and security gateways, and offers a simple user interface for device configuration and a way to enforce security policies, and standardizing the use of wireless applications for organizations.
