Intermec Technologies has introduced the latest version of its Sales Delivery & Merchandising (SDM) software package, one designed to work with Pocket PC 2002 for route accounting applications.

The Pocket PC version of SDM now is available on the Intermec 700 Series Pocket PC mobile computer. The company claims SDM is a full-service route accounting application and is the only beverage application in the industry to provide presales/delivery, route sales and extensive merchandising and auditing features in one package.

According to Intermec, SDM provides extensive customer and product sales history, including history for an entire promotional period on one screen. It offers signature capture capability and supports wireless communications. Tailored to both route sales and pre-sale/delivery, Intermec said SDM allows customers the flexibility to change core business models without the need for new software, thereby protecting initial investments.

The Intermec 700 Series of mobile computers offers wireless communications options, including GSM/GPRS, CDPD, Mobitex and DataTAC for wide area coverage, 802.11b for local area connectivity, and Bluetooth technologies for cable-free communications with peripheral devices. Designed from the ground up for use in harsh environments, the company said the 700 Series withstands multiple 5-ft. (1.5 m) drops to concrete and is sealed against rain and dust to IP64 standards.
