Digital River Joins Symbian Platinum Partner Program

Digital River, an e-commerce outsource provider, has joined Symbian's Platinum Partner Program. As a member of Symbian's Platinum Partner Program, Digital River becomes a supplier of Symbian e-commerce services.

According to the companies, Symbian software developers can leverage Digital River's commerce infrastructure to open online and wireless channels to market and sell their products. In addition, smartphone users can use their smartphones or the Internet to purchase and download software applications developed for the Symbian OS. To support these transactions, Digital River provides order management, fulfillment, e-marketing, fraud prevention and 24X7 customer service.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to the emerging m-commerce market and our intent to build upon our mobile strategy," said Joel Ronning, Digital River's CEO. "By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can further expand our commerce infrastructure and services into the m-commerce market and strengthen our relationships with wireless users, application developers, device manufacturers and carriers."

To support Symbian, Digital River said it plans to leverage its fourth-generation commerce platform. The company said the platform supports 60-70 thousand orders and downloads over one terabyte of digital product on a daily basis and has been designed to support Internet and mobile-based processes, including transactions via computers, cellular phones and PDAs.
