Extended Systems is collaborating with Research In Motion (RIM) on a solution to deliver enterprise applications such as Siebel, SAP and Tibco to BlackBerry handhelds.

Using Extended Systems' OneBridge mobile platform, which will interface with the new Mobile Data Service feature of BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the companies said enterprise customers will be able to extend existing legacy applications to BlackBerry handhelds for wireless access. They claim field service workers, mobile sales forces, customer relationship managers and healthcare professionals are among those who could benefit from this collaboration.

RIM has announced a number of partnerships to extend BlackBerry functionality beyond email. These include recent announcments with Onset Technology, Synergistic Software Solutions, PocketScript, Sun Microsystems and Aligo . Mark Guibert, Vice President, Brand Management at Research In Motion, said "RIM's alliance with Extended Systems is an important element of our strategy to extend BlackBerry beyond corporate email and help customers empower their mobile workforce while achieving further returns on their IT investments in both BlackBerry and back-end systems such as CRM."
