Ecamm BeamPRO Adds Bluetooth Support

Ecamm Network has released version 2.1 of BeamPRO for Palm OS ($8). BeamPRO is an application for sending multiple Palm files, Address contacts, MemoPad items, and Datebook appointments from one Palm device to another. New in version 2.1 is the ability to send data wirelessly between Bluetooth-enabled Palm OS devices.

"Sending files, appointments, memos, and contact info using BeamPRO is easy with Bluetooth," said Ecamm Network co-founder Glen Aspeslagh. "And it's much more reliable than IR." Bluetooth works at a distance of many meters, while IR reaches only a meter at the most and requires a clear line of site.

The company claims another advantage of Bluetooth's integration into BeamPRO is the option to send data to more than one Palm in a single transfer. For instance, Aspeslagh said "BeamPRO is often used by educators to install files on students' Palms. Using Bluetooth, a teacher standing in front of a class could send the day's homework assignments to everyone in a classroom with a single tap of the stylus."
