RSA Secures BlackBerry & Palms with Software Token

RSA Security is now offering its RSA SecurID Software Token to Research In Motion BlackBerry devices, and has enhanced support for SecurID on Palm OS handhelds. Both are software versions of the RSA SecurID hardware token. Previously supported platforms for SecurID include Windows, Pocket PC, and Nokia and Ericsson smartphones.

The company claims by putting RSA SecurID software on BlackBerry and Palm OS devices, enterprises can better protect assets with two-factor authentication without deploying and maintaining additional hardware devices. For users, the solution offers the convenience of using a single device for more than one application, eliminating the need to carry a dedicated authentication device.

The RSA SecurID Software Token for BlackBerry supports OS version 3.6 and can be installed wirelessly via email. The RSA SecurID Software Token for Palm handhelds has been updated to support OS version 5 and offers the option of storing their tokens on a secure MMC card using the SecureMMC technology from Renesas Technology Corporation.

RSA Security has also released RSA SecurID Web Express v1.2, an automated user management tool that is designed to offer enterprises support in the deployment and ongoing management of RSA SecurID authentication credentials.
