Handmark to Publish Palm's Mobile Mentor Software

Handmark is slated to publish and distribute the next generation of Palm Solution Group's Palm Mobile Mentor software, a collection of organization, productivity, learning and teaching applications for educators and students. The companies made the announcement on the opening day of the Florida Educational Technology Conference.

Available now, the companies said the Mobile Mentor 2003-04 Educator Edition and Road Scholar 2003-04 Student Edition CDs each include more than $249 of commercial software for $39.99 each through Handmark's website, www.mobileducator.com or www.mobilescholar.com.

"Our long-standing commitment to the Palm OS platform and to the education market has provided us with the opportunity to work closely with Palm's education group, and understand firsthand the technology needs of the education community," said Augie Grasis, chief executive officer of Handmark. "Our 4.0Student and fourostudent.net solutions have positioned us as one of the leading providers of education solutions for Palm Powered handhelds. This success, along with our strong publishing and distribution channel, made the Palm/Handmark alliance a natural one."

Educators purchasing a Mobile Mentor 2003-04 Educator Edition get free instructor account access to Handmark's fourostudent.net. The companies said each CD features more than 30 applications, including:

-- ImagiMath 1.0 by ImagiWorks, Inc., a program that combines a mathematics visualizer, a full-featured calculator, and a mathematical worksheet and equation solver.
-- MobileDB by Handmark, a database for building custom lists, and viewing and editing any table or spreadsheet-like information.
-- 4.0Student by Handmark, an organizer that offers a single interface to enter, store and manage information, such as coursework details, assignments and course grades.
-- Palm Reader from Palm Digital Media, the leading eBook application for Palm Powered devices. Palm Reader lets users annotate text, change font sizes, bookmark their place and rotate the screen orientation to a more comfortable position.
-- Four Palm Reader eBooks: "Tom Sawyer," "The Jungle Book," "The Last of the Mohicans" and "Wuthering Heights."
-- Games, including the new Handmark Magic Dogs card games, and demo versions of Scrabble, Tetris, and Monopoly.
