Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) Jot handwriting recognition application is embedded and shipping on the P800 multimedia smartphone from Sony Ericsson.

"Jot provides P800 users an intuitive and natural way to interact with all applications on this device and we are delighted to have contributed to its successful debut," said Russ Davis, Vice President of Product Development for CIC. "Jot's ability to allow users to quickly and accurately enter text onto the P800 enables it to become an ideal device for note taking and short messaging overcoming the historical difficulties associated with using keypads or cryptic handwriting recognition software."

According to the companies, the P800 runs version 7.0 of the Symbian OS and incorporates the new UIQ pen-based user interface. CIC plans to make its WordComplete text entry utility, which provides multilingual dictionaries for even faster data entry, and Sign-On, biometric security application for device access available for the P800 later this year.

CIC Jot technology gained major support last month when Palm announced it would be replacing its Graffiti handwriting recognition system with Jot.
