Handspring and Brightstar plan to work together to bring Handspring's Treo 270 GSM smartphone to Latin America.

Through an agreement signed by the companies, Brightstar will distribute the Treo 270 and Treo accessories throughout all of Latin America (except Mexico and Brazil). In its role as primary distributor of Treo in the Latin America region, Brightstar will handle the importation, distribution, marketing, fulfillment and service and support for Handspring. Brightstar will manage the Handspring business through its Wireless Data division.

The Treo 270 combines a GSM/GPRS mobile phone, a Palm OS organizer, wireless email, SMS text messaging and Internet access. The metallic silver colored CECT Treo 270 measures 4.2 x 2.8 x 0.82 inches and 5.4 ounces. It features a rocker switch for one-handed navigation, and a speakerphone capability.
