Bachmann Software's PrintBoy application is slated to be bundled with Anycom's Bluetooth PM-2002 Printer Module. Anycom's Bluetooth printer adapter allows users to upgrade existing printers to become Bluetooth compatible via an adapter that plugs into the printer's parallel port. According to Bachmann, its BTReady Adapter solution will allow users of Palm OS and Pocket PC devices to print documents, spreadsheets, emails, memos, calendars and more, directly from Bluetooth-enabled handhelds. A growing number of handhelds, including Palm's Tungsten T and HP's iPAQ 5450, integrate Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a short range wireless technology designed to eliminate cables and help devices and peripherals better communicate.
According to the companies, they've combined solutions because handheld users prefer to purchase a complete solution when they shop for PDA-compatible products. The BTReady solution includes the Anycom Bluetooth printer module and Bachmann's PrintBoy mobile printing software for either the Palm OS or Pocket PC environments. BTReady is available for $150.
