PDA Briefs: Quicken for Pocket PC, Kyocera 7135, iPAQ Case, mySchedule NFL2003 & More

Landware and Intuit have finally brought Pocket Quicken to the Pocket PC with the release of Pocket Quicken 2.0 for Pocket PC ($29.95). According to the companies, the Pocket PC version is loaded with the same features and enhancements as the Palm OS edition, making it a must have for Quicken users.


Innopocket is offering an anodized aluminum case, Metal Deluxe Case ($30), for HP's iPAQ Pocket PC h1910. The case is molded to the h1910 and includes a neoprene lining.


The Kyocera 7135 smartphone is slated to finally appear from Verizon Wireless by the end of April. The phone costs $500 with a two-year service contract. The Kyocera 7135 features clamshell design and CDMA2000 1X technology that enables data speeds of up to 153 kbps.

The Kyocera 7135, which is powered by a 33 MHz DragonBall MZ processor, 16MB of RAM and Palm OS 4.1, also offers a high-resolution screen with 65,000 colors, assisted GPS technology, an MP3 player and a Secure Digital slot.


Toysoft has released mySchedule NFL2003 ($14.95) just in time for the 2003 entry draft. mySchedule is a series of sports schedulers, which also includes for Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, FIA Formula One World Championship.



The NFL version includes all 2003 preseason and regular schedules, the Top 100 entry draft players, standings, rosters, as well as 2002 statistics. Users also get weekly NFL summaries, updated scores, stats and Vegas betting style odds

Toysoft has also updated its security application Xforcer ($19.95) to support Palm OS 3.5 and high resolution Sony CLIEs. Xforcer implements the AES 256 bits encryption algorithm and SHA1 hashing technologies, encrypting and decrypting transparently without user intervention. It locks a handheld until the correct passphrase is entered.


Paragon Software has releases the third version of the SlovoEd translation dictionaries for Pocket PC with lots of new databases. The dictionary user interface and the manual are now available in English, German, Spanish, French, and Russian. A Lithuanian interface has also been added.

Two new 3D games for the Pocket PC have been made available from Proporta, Strategic Assault and Interstellar Flames. The games cost $10 each.
