Onset Technology has expanded its basic METAmessage product to include the ability to access and retrieve files and documents from corporate networks. METAmessage is a suite of software solutions that give business users access to data on their enterprise network via a Research In Motion BlackBerry handheld. Currently shipping, METAmessage for Wireless 4.1 also includes a spell checking feature that lets users correct typing errors and misspellings as they compose outbound email messages. Stewart Fox, vice president of marketing and sales for Onset, said "now, with METAmessage, a BlackBerry user can download files from a network server, print anywhere to a network printer or fax machine, access Web pages without a browser, and read more attachment types than any other software. METAmessage makes BlackBerry an even more powerful wireless device."
According to the company, METAmessage for Wireless 4.1 also supports the Mobile Data Service feature from Research In Motion . Onset said its software is available with data access capabilities that let handheld users interact directly with a range of corporate data sources such as document management systems from iManage and Hummingbird, SQL/ODBC databases, Web services, CRM/ERP programs, and proprietary applications.
