Version 2.0 of AOL for the Pocket PC 2002 is now available. The application features email and instant messaging with support for Buddy Lists. It also has new personal email signature and sorting capabilities. Other features include the ability to browse the Web from your AOL connection and user access with up to seven different screen names.
To boost its sagging fortunes, Gateway plans to expand its product offerings by adding 50 new products in 15 categories to its roster, moving other areas of electronic besides computers and computer peripherals. As part of the plan, the company appears ready to offer its first self-branded PDA, most likely a Pocket PC, following in the footsteps of fellow direct seller Dell. Palm's latest accessory Power-to-Go ($99) for the Palm Universal Connector allows users to recharge a compatible Palm handheld while away from the handheld's cradle. Power To Go clips onto the back of a PPDA without the need to power down or reset. It also recharges a device 1-2 times, depending on the model, has a charge status button and LED to see when it needs recharging, features a Power LED to indicate when it is being recharged and allows users to recharge it and their Palm together in a cradle or travel charger.
In other Palm news, the company is also offering a blue version of the $99 Zire entry level PDA.
Karrier Communications is shipping IntelliGolf for the Sony Ericsson P800 ($19.95), its first Symbian OS smartphone application. IntelliGolf for the P800 automates on-course golf scoring, presents performance graphs and statistics in color, and includes wireless access to an international scorecard database. With over 17,000 courses, users can access their favorite course wirelessly using a P800. This avoids the manual entry of hole yardages, par ratings and hole handicaps values. ![]() P800 Smartphone Nutshell offers a wide range of leather cases and holsters for many of the PDAs and smartphones currently available. They even have one for Apple's iPOD mp3 player. Users can pick the color; black, brown, tan, camouflage, white, and red; or choose to have their case be crocodile styled. PocketSensei is offer a free update, to version 2.9.8, of its launcher for the Palm OS, SilverScreen. Among the new features in the latest edition are hi-res custom fonts as well as performance tweaks and bug fixes. The company plans on releasing version III by the end of the month. They are offering a special upgrade price of $9.95 for users of Silverscreen 1.0.
Palm has released a software patch for the Tungsten T, PalmTungstenTUpdate.prc. The company said the patch resolves the following issues:
--Digitizer issues affecting the top 5mm of the Tungsten T display not responding correctly or at all. This is typically detected when using pull down menus or applications that utilize this part of the display. Related Links:
