Palm Digital Media plans to host a eBook signing with best-selling author Tad Williams at this years BookExpo America (BEA) conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

According to the company, Williams will be at the Palm Digital Media booth located in the show's eBook Experience pavilion from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. May 31st to sign copies of his latest book, The War of the Flowers. Williams is also the author of the four-volume OtherLand series. The books are published by DAW Books.

"It wasn't long ago that most people thought of eBook signings as a fantasy, so we're looking forward to having this event with one of the most well-known authors in this genre," said Mike Segroves, business development manager at Palm Digital Media. "This eBook signing is different from ones we've had in the past because participants will be able to download a free copy of The War of the Flowers from Palm Digital Media on the spot using two-way wireless communication technology."

WideRay's infrared Jack access point is the backbone of the whole endeavor. Palm Digital Media said users will be able to point the infrared port on Palm and Pocket PC handhelds in the direction of the Jack and download the eBook. Williams will open a special page within the eBook and sign his name or write a message with a stylus. For those attendees who do not have a handheld, free hardcover copies will be available. After BEA, the eBook will be available for $18.
