Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan has selected ePocrates to deliver clinical and formulary information to its hospital staff. Henry Ford will integrate its hospital drug formulary with ePocrates Rx, an evidence-based drug reference guide for handheld devices and the Internet. ePocrates Rx allows physicians to determine whether a drug is covered under the hospital formulary and search for less costly alternatives as well as check dosing and safety information.
MediaQ has introduced a new family of ARM-based application processors called Katana. The company said the processors are designed to run multimedia on handhelds such as PDAs and cellular handsets, boosting performance and reducing the power consumption needed to run data-intensive applications. Engineering samples of the two chips in the family, MQ9100 and MQ9150, are slated to available to OEMs in July and September, respectively. Cirond Technologies' pocketWiNc is a Wi-Fi sniifer or connectivity tool that is designed to makes it easier for users to find and connect to Wi-Fi networks. pocketWiNc also provides client-side support for Cirond’s WiLan Manager and can be used to help network administrators inspect, manage and tune Wi-Fi networks for optimum performance. pocketWiNc is available for Pocket PC 2002 and CE .NET, and is compatible with the 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g standards.
The publishing and bookselling worlds converge in Los Angeles from May 28th through June 1st for BookExpo America, the eBook industry’s largest North American event with 30,000 people expected to attend. BookExpo America and the Open eBook Forum plan to premier The eBook Experience, a learning environment featuring hands-on displays of the latest digital reading devices, software, services and eBook titles in a coordinated series of exhibits. Nokia has introduced a new pen-based mobile phone, the tri-band (GSM 900/1800/1900) Nokia 6108, that is optimized for messaging and designed for Chinese language users in Asia Pacific markets. The phone features a 128 x 128 resolution and 4096 color display, Multimedia Messaging Service, Java, a built-in email client, an XHTML browser, a "Chinese-English-Chinese" dictionary and enhanced features for Chinese language users in the region. The Nokia 6108 is slated to be commercially available in Asia Pacific markets during the third quarter.
Cellmania and PalmGear are partnering to broaden the distribution channels for Palm OS software on Palm Powered cell phones. The agreement authorizes Cellmania to choose from thousands of possible cell phone-ready applications in PalmGear’s catalog for distribution through wireless carriers, online retailers and the Cellmania website. As part of the deal, Cellmania plans to offer over-the-air download of Palm OS titles through wireless carriers.
