Handwriting recognition vendor Decuma has signed a licensing agreement with Sony to include "Decuma Japanese" as standard handwriting recognition in the latest CLIE handhelds, the PEG-NX73V and PEG-NX80V, which are slated to make their appearance in the Japanese market sometime in June. Audible.com, the leading provider of audiobooks, audio editions of newspapers and periodicals, and public radio programs for download and mobile listening, is partnering with Ricardo Samuel Goldstein, a Brazilian Internet entrepreneur, to launch a Portuguese language information and entertainment audio download service at www.audible.com.br.
Introduced last October as the first $99 handheld, Palm's original Zire PDA, the most affordable and lightest-weight Palm branded handheld to date, recently reached the milestone of passing the One million mark in sales. The device was also the best-selling handheld during this past holiday season.


Mapopolis latest GPS products for handhelds is a Bluetooth GPS Kit for Palm OS ($300) and Pocket PC ($350) devices that features a Bluetooth-enabled GPS receiver and mapping software. The kit comes in two versions, one for North America and the other for Europe.




Macromedia and ACCESS have signed a licensing agreement to integrate Macromedia Flash support into the ACCESS NetFront browser. The NetFront browser is one of the most popular and broadly deployed embedded browsers with editions that include support for both the Palm OS and Pocket PC devices. Lack of Flash support has been a significant drawback for the browser, which otherwise can handle many other Internet standards.
Arcona Magi has just released Medieval Heroes 1.5 ($15) for the Palm OS. Medieval Heroes is a historical strategy game that takes place in the provinces of Central Europe during the 14th century. Version 1.5 adds Hi-Res (320x320) support, a Hall Of Fame, Sound support, "Undo Last Turn" feature for "Easy" difficulty level, a "Switch Game" option, as well as additional game play improvements
