Handango Adds Ringtones & Graphics to Platform

Handango today announced the availability of ringtones and graphics as part of Handango's mobile download platform, Handango AMPP. Through deals with content aggregators, Handango said it has secured access to a digital media library of more than 10,000 ringtones and graphics.

According to Handango, its Handango AMPP licensees, which include Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Kyocera Wireless, Sprint, Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile, Orange, O2, HP, Dell, Palm, Microsoft, SEGA Mobile, Sony, AOL, Yahoo! and more than 100 others, can now extend their existing Handango AMPP deployments to quickly and easily offer this collection of digital media to their customers.

Historically, Handango has been a provider of software downloads for phones and PDAs, with a catalog of more than 35,000 software titles. "After carefully watching the market and listening to our customers and platform licensees, we've decided to aggressively enter this market with what is arguably the largest selection of digital media to be found anywhere," said Laura Rippy, chief executive of Handango. "This breadth of selection enables our licensees to create very targeted offerings and promotions aimed at increasing revenue in particular customer segments."

At the Handago website, a new section of ringtones and graphics is available to U.S. customers with compatible Nokia and Motorola phones and wireless GSM service from AT&T, Cingular or T-Mobile for between $1 and $2 each.
