In addition to its agreement Sprint, Handango announced two other partnerships today at JavaOne, including new deals with Nokia and TELUS Mobility. Also at JavaOne, the mobile software publisher touted its overall J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) catalog, which now has 1,700 J2ME software titles.

Handango, which publishes mobile software for all major mobile operating systems, began offering J2ME applications last year. "I am astounded at how fast our J2ME software catalog has grown," said Laura Rippy, chief executive officer of Handango. "With such a broad offering, licensees of our download platform, Handango AMPP, can create very targeted application offerings for specific sets of customers."

Handango and Nokia have expanded Nokia's consumer applications portal to include Java applications. Nokia's Americas' Software Market, which Handango manages for Nokia, will now offer Java applications designed to run on various Nokia mobile handsets.

The J2ME software titles include Qbert and Tetris as well as chess and crossword puzzles and many more. Most applications range in price from $2 to $8. Currently, the Americas' Software Market supports U.S. wireless carriers T-Mobile, AT&T and Cingular.

Hanango also announced that is Java-based BlackBerry 6750 software will now be available through Canadian wireless provider TELUS Mobility at www.handango.com/TELUSmobility.

"Handango's Java applications allow us to provide our business clients with the expanded variety of BlackBerry productivity and entertainment applications they've been looking for," said Robert Blumenthal, TELUS Mobility's vice president of products and services. "Handango's premier mobile catalog and fast-to-market software provisioning platform are the primary reasons we chose the company as our BlackBerry mobile software resource."

The two companies will also engage in joint marketing, such as online newsletters and featured product promotions.
