Skyscape, a provider of mobile medical and nursing references, today announced that it will now offer cancer care specialists with references for their PDAs.

According to the company, three leading oncology references are now available for medical professionals to use on their handhelds as a result of two newly inked partnerships with Jones and Bartlett and Springer-Verlag.

And for the first time, Skyscape said the most widely-used cancer staging system from the American Joint Committee on Cancer is available in mobile format integrated with other tools, such as a staging calculator and several indices.

According to the American Cancer Society, staging is the process of finding out how far the cancer has spread. This is a vital step in determining treatment choices and it also gives the practitioners a clearer idea of the outlook for recovery.

In a new partnership with Jones and Bartlett, Skyscape has made both the Physician's Cancer Chemotherapy Drug Manual and Oncology Nursing Drug Handbook available on PDAs. In an expanded partnership with Springer-Verlag, a scientific publisher and Bertelsmann division, Skyscape has made the AJCC Cancer Staging Handbook, Sixth Edition, prepared by the American Joint Committee on Cancer, available to for handhelds.
