Infosoft's EMS Testing Suite (IMETS) provides a testing platform for Multi Media messaging , Nokia Smart Messaging and Enhanced Messaging Service applications. The IMETS simulation environment is designed to be useful for wireless messaging application developers, content providers and cellular service operators to develop and test wireless messaging applications.
Swedish company Pocket Presence has released Running Voice GSM 3.0, the latest version of its tool for complete GSM and GPRS communication for Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC and Pocket PC 2002. Running Voice GSM 3.0 includes features for dialing, messaging, data configuration, data session management and more.


StylusCentral.com has released three new aluminum cases for the Palm Zire 71, HP iPAQ 1910 and Toshiba e740. The company said the three new cases are each made of tough anodized aircraft-grade material and are precision molded to fit the exact dimensions of specific PDA models. All three cases include Neoprene lining to firmly secure the PDAs and protect them. The cases cost around $30 each.


PDAparts.com has released a battery upgrade for the Palm m500, m505 and m515. According to the company, the Palm m5xx Battery Upgrade ($50) is a hi-Capacity 850mAh battery, while an original battery that comes in the m5xx units are 650mAh. This should get users 20%-30% more battery life from their units.
AvantGo has released the final version of its Palm OS 5 browser. The browser has been in beta testing for quite a while now. If you already have AvantGo 5.2 build 83 version of the beta then you've got the final product. The popular offline browser can also be used as a standard browser on wireless handhelds.
In an effort to promote its platforms as a means to read eBooks, Microoft is giving away free eBooks for its Microsoft Reader on Pocket PCs and PCs. Through this special offer, you can download best-selling titles from a wide range of notable authors for free. This offer will run from July through November of this year. The promotion features a giveaway of three new eBooks each week, making each new eBook available for only about a week Current titles include A Short History of Nearly Everything, by Bill Bryson; Last to Die, by James Grippando; and Candy & Me, by Hillary Liftin. Future titles include Look The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan; Get Shorty by Elmore Leonard, The Sinister Pig by Toby Hillerman, and The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood.
Sprint is listing but not taking orders yet for the new Hitachi G1000 Pocket PC Phone ($650). The device, which measures 5.8 x 3.3 x 0.9 inches and weighs 8.4 ounces, features a 400MHz Intel XScale processor, a built-in keyboard, a 3.5-inch color display, a built-in camera, 32MB of RAM and the same amount of ROM. It uses Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition as its operating system. An SD card slot is provided but it is only compatible with memory and not peripheral expansion. The G1000's specifications state its lithium ion battery should last for 2.5 hours of talk and 168 hours of standby time.


HP has released a firmware update for its iPAQ 5400 series Pocket PCs on its website that adds LEAP authentication client support, enabling the handheld to connect to a Wi-Fi Access Point with support for 802.11g and 802.11b.
