By Palm Boulevard Staff SplashData has upgraded SplashPhoto, its Palms OS image editing application, to version 4.0. According to the company, the new version includes a host of new features, making it easier than ever to view, manage and share pictures on handhelds. It includes a desktop catalog feature with two-way synchronization, now enables users to organize image collections into personalized categories and, upon synchronization, the images are arranged accordingly on the device. There is no limit to the number of personalized categories that users can create. SplashPhoto also enables users to crop images on the desktop, then format and compress them for optimal viewing on the handheld’s screen. All images are stored as JPG files, simplifying the process of sharing pictures with people using other operating systems (such as Pocket PC or Symbian OS). Also, images can be transferred via Bluetooth, infrared or email between different types of devices, including handhelds, smartphones, laptops and other devices. Other new features include the optimization of SplashPhoto for Palm OS 5 devices, as well as recognition by SplashPhoto Desktop of screen resolution for the device upon which an image is to be installed and automatic cropping/resizing of JPG images to the appropriate resolution without the need of further action on the user’s part. SplashPhoto 4.0 is available for $19.95. Registered owners of previous versions of SplashPhoto can upgrade to SplashPhoto 4.0 for $5.00. Related Links:
