Astraware latest game is TipTop ($14.95),for Palm OS and Pocket PC handhelds. Based on the popular web game by PopCap and ASAP games, in TipTop all players have to do is match and clear all the winning symbols, using magnets, bombs and other special blocks to score combos, but not break the bank.

Expertcity's GoToMyPC Corporate 4.0, a managed remote-access service that allows secure access to computer desktops from any Internet connection, is now being used by over 100 firms. The application enables remote access from any wireless device running Pocket PC or Windows CE.4.0. Usability and viewing features include scaling, image rotation and one-click scrolling.
Onset Technology plans to provide mobile access to the iManage WorkSite 8 matter centric collaboration solution for law firms. The company said the support will ensure a seamless upgrade path for the numerous law firms using iManage and METAmessage solutions with Research In Motion BlackBerry deployments. METAmessage solutions let mobile attorneys access document-management systems, spell-check outgoing messages, and use time-and-billing and CRM applications.

Paragon Software has released PiLoc localization for the Palm Tungsten T2 interface. This application creates an environment to use the T2 in a specific national language, providing full translation of the T2's interface (desktop icons, menu, dialogs of built-in Palm OS applications are translated). PiLoc also includes national fonts, national keyboard layout and national Graffiti 2 support.

Complete Dutch, Greek and Polish translations of Palm Tungsten T2 are scheduled for release with twenty three other languages slated to be added gradually. A lite version that enables national fonts support, national keyboard layout and national Graffiti support, is already available for Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Turkish.


Proporta is launching a full line of leather cases for a wide range of Pocket PC and Palm OS handhelds. The company said this is not a generic case and each style is custom made for the machine it is used for. Using snap in clips and leather coated aluminum fasteners, each machine is kept firmly. In addition, each case has room for cards, styli, cash and additional memory.


Symbian has released the following unaudited financial and operational figures for the second quarter and the six months ended June 30th:

--Symbian OS unit shipments grew in H1 2003 to 2.68m (H1 2002: 0.23m units) as network operators worldwide introduce Nokia 7650, 3650 and Sony Ericsson’s P800
--Symbian royalty revenues grew to £10.2m in H1 2003 (H1 2002: £1.5m)
--Total Symbian revenues grew to £21.1m in H1 2003 (H1 2002: £9.5m)
--Second Symbian OS-based 3G phone – the F2102V made by Fujitsu for NTT DoCoMo’s W-CDMA network – becomes available in Japan
--At the end of H1 2003, 26 phones and variants based on Symbian OS were under development by nine licensees (see Notes to Editors for definitions)
--Phones under development include the BenQ P30, Samsung SGH-D700, Siemens SX-1, Nokia N-Gage and Nokia 6600


You can now pre-order the Nokia N-Gage mobile game deck at selected retailers. The pocket-size N-Gage game deck offers Mobile 3-D game playing, ergonomic game controls for two-hand use, a five-way directional controller and wireless multi-player capability. You can also make a call, play MP3s, send email and multimedia messages more.


Ze Development's Pocket Rangefinder ($5.95) allows Pocket PC users to measure the range of distant objects with just their handheld. According to the company, no additional hardware is required, the application is fully customizable to measure the range to any object, it is accurate and capable of measuring a person's distance at 200 feet to within 10 feet, and supports metric and U.S. customary units.

The company's website says it works by a user selecting an image of a distant object from the applications image database, then holding the Pocket PC at arm's length so that the image and actual object appear next to each other. Adjust the image on your Pocket PC until it appears to be the same size as the actual object and the distance is displayed.
