Skyscape Brings Psychiatric References to PDAs

Skyscape, a provider of mobile medical references, has introduced five new PDA-enhanced references, including the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), aimed at psychiatric professionals.

In addition to the DSM-IV, the other psychiatric references now available for handhelds include The Manual for Clinical Psychopharmacology, 4th Edition; Psychiatric Drug Therapy -- Based on the Handbook of Psychiatric Drug Therapy, Fourth Edition; Psychosocial Nursing for General Patient Care, 2nd Edition; and the Washington University Survival Guide Series - Psychiatry.

"I am active in a very busy consultation-liaison service, with a lot of activity in the ICU. I find the Skyscape references to be invaluable. They save me many a trip to the hospital library," said Alan Gruber, DSW, PhD, MD, NeuroBehavioral Associates, Chair and Professor, PsyD-MD Program, Medical University of the Americas. "What really makes them helpful is the way they take me directly to a diagnosis or condition, to the drugs being used and their interactions, so I can quickly make sure that my recommendations for the patient's care will fit the situation. It's a great tool to have in my pocket."

Skyscape has also announced a new partnership with American Psychiatric Publishing (APPI), a publisher of books, journals, and other media related to psychiatry and mental health, to bring more psychiatric references to handhelds.
