LearnTracfx Wirelessly Exchanges Classroom Data

By Palm Boulevard Staff
January 23, 2004

eLearning Dynamics has announced a plan to release, LearnTracfx, a file exchange solution for wireless-enabled classrooms and Palm OS handhelds.

According the company, LearnTracfx, due on March 8th, is a teacher-controlled platform that wirelessly distributes and collects classroom assignments and study materials for an entire class, selected group or individual students simultaneously. The system resides on a teacher's laptop or desktop computer and beams the selected materials to students' wireless-enabled Palm OS devices via WiFi (802.11b) or infrared networks.

Generally, instructors attempting to wirelessly transfer data to students' handhelds first must convert the various files to handheld format and, in most cases, synchronize with each student device separately.

LearnTracfx, on the other hand, allows teachers to wirelessly transfer a variety of file formats with any number of student devices without the need for conversion. The file exchange solution also provides the instructor with a verifiable record of exactly what files were transferred to whom and when.
