Over the past year, palmOne took its products directly to the people with the opening of a series of Cafés.

At these locations, you can't buy coffee or lattés, but you will find palmOne handhelds, accessories and software, as well as a sales staff that is sure to know what they're talking about. For shoppers used to uniformed salespeople at computer superstores and electronic shops, that alone makes a palmOne store worth checking out.

Although palmOne initially rolled its Cafés out at malls and shopping centers, it recently made the move to airports—perhaps the best place to attract mobile professionals with some time on their hands.

PalmOne's Director of Retail Stores, Kanwal Sharma, enthused, "The airport stores make it exceptionally convenient for business travelers to purchase the handheld or smartphone and accessories they need."

Earlier this month, palmOne launched a store at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, one of the busiest airports in the country. This location generated 62 percent more revenue in the first three weeks of business than any other palmOne airport store. The Treo 600 smartphone and accessories—such as keyboards, travel chargers, cases and expansion cards—sold exceptionally well.

Buoyed by this success, the handheld company opened a second store at a different terminal in the same airport last week. Whereas the first Hartsfield-Jackson is located in Terminal T, the new one is situated in Terminal B.

In addition to the two Atlanta airport stores, palmOne recently opened its first Pittsburgh International Airport store on July 2nd, a second Newark Liberty International Airport store on July 21st, and a store in Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on August 28th.
