DON'T GO near a TREO 650 or Cingular Wireless
I have had a Cingular treo650 now for about 6 Months. I have had nothing but problems. Of the three phones I have had all three had the same problems. Very Poor Sound Quality. They freeze up and hang. The Keypads stop working. When Trying to deal with Cingular the pass the buck to Palm,. When Dealing with Palm the pass the buck back to Cingular. You will get a big run arround. And you r phone will never work. I thought there was an Implied Warrenty Law in the US. But it does not apply to cell phone makers or the Service providers, Avoid the TREO 650 and Cingular Wireless.

returned treo 650 singular service
The return might be due mainly to very little service or no service from singular. We bought the device and started on a trip from PA to midwest. )/Another car in caravan had two other carriers. We had very little service along I80 from ohio to Ia. We had every call made from interstate I280? just west of quad cities DROPPED. 3 calls made each one at least twice. We had a map from singular as to service where we were staying. They showed service there. We made trips in a five mile circle, got out of and away from car. WE found only one location of 6 where we could call out. AT one location I could have hit a tower with a rock and could see another tower a few miles to the south. There calls were often dropped. Others that worked were verizon, cellular one, nextel, and two others. t-mobile and singular did not work at that location. Calls in on trip were loud and clear. Every call out receiver complained about quality. Most said I can't understand you and nothing was communicated. Upon return to PA one call was completed with normal commication but receiver of message still complained about signal was good and bad. ADVICE DON'T USE SINGULAR WEST OF OHIO AND FROM ANOTHER WHO DROPPED SINGULAR NOT IN FLORIDA EITHER. Don't rely on the maps of service provided by cingular. They show service where there is none.

650 going back
I have owned and used every Palm/Pilot. This is my first return. The plus: much smaller than my T5 and my camera phone: The bad: No case & I bought two. They auto dial by themselves and often answer. Sound quality not as good. Except for 'contacts' no integration of PDA to phone. Very hard to dial. No voice dialing. Your ear can hangup phone. PDA resets often!!Screen is small. No grafiti. Ram too small for the four programs I own. Changing a sound one place, changes it elsewhere. Can't look up a number on PDA and dial unless it is contacts. Memos scramble. No speed dial keys(the substitute is cumbersome) The whole thing has no on/off switch so you can do damage to things using the red phone. Battery only lasts if it's not in a case as it turns on. The lock keys feature is time consuming and only locks some keys. Mt first bill was nearly $200 for features(Cing.)

What about contacts security
While using my Treo, I was shocked to discover that all though I had used the security feature to hide/mask sensitive phone numbers, the phone numbers and names were displayed upon the client placing an incoming call to my phone! I have had much cheaper phones that provided better security! If this cannot be corrected, it is definitely going back to the store.

Treo 650 good for everyone but T-Mobile
I tried the 650 because my (Verizon)Kyocera smartphone needed an upgrade. I tried the Treo 650 and was impressed with everything except reception close to and in my Atlanta home. As long as I didn't go home the phone was great. I don't care for the tiny keyboard buttons either. I returned the phone to T-Mobile within five days without the usual hassle with some wireless carriers, but the bills kept coming. The T-Mobile Store did not follow through on the canceling of service and it took much time and effort to get it straightened out. I am back to Verizon and my Kyocera smart flip phone, which is nice on my side, unlike the 650.

Treo is perfect but NOT from Sprint!
If you think of switching your carrier to Sprint to get treo650, you better wait and think one more time.I am using treo600 with Sprint. I really LOVE treo, but won't buy the 650 from Sprint. Why? because you cannot have the data service in roaming area. A friend of mine, who has 600 with cingular, call & email me when he tripped to China. I cannot do it even from Carmel, CA. I wrote a letter to Sprint asking to enable data service in roaming areas, then they answered "different system. we can't." Just like they are not improving the service. What makes sence if the smartphone can be used only in a small local area? I'll wait for any GSM carrier like Cingular release Treo650.
