A Palm OS user since '97 but I went through several defective Treo 650's and decided to give the HP iPAQ hw6515 a try. I LOVE it! I'm a Mac user so I had to buy supplemental software (PocketMac) to get it to sync with my Mac but it was worth it.The features and ease of use are terrific. My Plantronics M2500 Bluetooth headset works well with it - LOUD actually, I have to crank the volume down.
I was very confused at the way you tested the GPS and software though. Face down in your lap? Seems like it would lessen the satellite reception as well as disorient it. Your results are understandable given how you had it positioned. With a remote Bluetooth receiver that would be fine but this unit and its small antenna needs to be oriented differently.
To test I downloaded a demo of Mapopolis to test it with and rigged it so the hw6515 was on the air vents in my vehicle with good access to the sky. I updated the Quick GPS Connection and took off. Worked beautifully.
I got one misdirection in my testing and I decided to follow it to see where it would take me. Turns out it was my fault as I clicked on the address above the one I wanted from the list. It took me right to the wrong address as it should have. I had it route me to an address that was in my Contacts, that is a cool feature.
My only negative so far is that I keep forgetting that the flip-up screen protector is down and keep tapping on it to make a selection. Doh!
And, as with ALL other units, I wish it had a few gigs of intermal memory. Awesome unit.
