Takes time
I have the 8700c and Pearl here. I like the Pearl more for its size and features. But still, the keyboard on the 8700 is better. You can get a REAL G-Mail APP that has real e-mail features, not just push mail, herehttp://www.gmail.com/app/v1.1.0/L1/gm-BlackBerry-8100_v4_0.jad

Pearl?
I've been a Blackberry user for 5 years, from the first integrated phone model to the 7100t (which I use now). I thought I would be overwhelmed by the Pearl, but I am not. In my opinion the biggest drawback to the device is the tiny trackball, which is extremely sensitive. I only tried it in the store, but I found it very difficult to scroll to an icon and hold the trackball there while pressing it. I like the thumbwheel much better. I can't imagine trying to use the trackball while walking or riding in a car, for example. RIM needs to come out with a track ball that has a solid touch and not a toy.

A great phone
I just bought the Pearl yesterday and I love it! I am a law student in constant communication with school, work, and family/friends. In under an hour I was able to set up my address book and have my personal and school email accounts connected and working from this one little phone. It is wonderful to have email easily accessible at the tips of my fingers! If you are familiar with text messaging, you can easily adjust to typing on the smaller keys.

Camera on a phone
Are you providing a review, or forcing your cemented opinion on people? I value a camera on a phone very much. It makes taking whiteboard snaps, dialer images, and other memory jogs very easy, and it's fun for other uses. Get with it, this is a mobile communications device, not a simple phone.

My first Blackberry is lots of fun.
I've been hesitant to buy a Blackberry simply because I find many uses for phones with a built in camera and MP3 player. The moment I heard about the Blackberry I new that it was going to be a joy to have. I bought my Blackberry through T-Mobile because for the longest time I wanted a sidekick without all the bulk and the Pearl is the phone I have been waiting for. Its size is perfect making it versitle all the meanwhile allowing me to browse the net with great speed and a crisp screen and the fact that I can synchronise it with my laptop is that much better.
