By Dave Mabe
A wiki is a convenient collaborative Web site that allows users to easily edit any page on the site from within a web browser. Having deep roots in the open source software community, wikis continue to prove popular in more and more mainstream applications. The most well known wiki is Wikipedia, the popular online encyclopedia that anyone can contribute to.
Socialtext provides a wiki implementation for corporations and other organizations. Wikis have always been editable from a desktop browser, but most aren't suited for small screens. The Miki interface provides a way to access Socialtext wikis from a handheld browser and even edit pages in your wiki right from your mobile device.
Normally you would access your Socialtext wiki using a URL in the following format: http://www.socialtext.net/accountname/ where accountname is your Socialtext account name.
To access the Miki interface for a Socialtext wiki from your mobile browser, use the following URL: http://www.socialtext.net/lite/page/accountname/
This enhancement is available for free with any Socialtext plan. There are a variety of Socialtext plans to choose from. There is even a free plan for a wiki with up to 5 users.
