Apple has just added a new section to the Apple Developer Connection. It is called the iPhone Dev Center. Unfortunately, the new section to the Apple Web site doesn't mean an early release for the native app software development kit (SDK) it promised earlier this month. The SDK, which isn’t due until February, would finally bring native apps to the iPhone for a much better software experience for users.

Instead, iPhone Dev Center is a repository of information for designing, coding, and optimizing Web applications for iPhone and iPod touch. There are Web development guidelines and iPhone Tech Talk Videos, where engineers discuss things like the iPhone’s user interface and optimizing Web titles and content for iPhone. Additional features include sample code and an iPhone reference library, which includes release notes, technical documentation, guides on developing so-called Web 2.0 applications, etc.
