AT&T, Qualcomm Hope to Cash in on Mobile Banking

Top U.S. wireless carrier AT&T seeks to tap into growing interest in banking wirelessly, this week unveiling a new, downloadable mobile banking service in connection with Wachovia and SunTrust Banks. AT&T's not the only wireless player going mobile. Its service is powered by the same wireless banking firm, Firthorn, Verizon Wireless formed its own mobile banking relationship with last month. And, just yesterday, mobile phone chipset-maker Qualcomm got into the act when it announced plans to buy Firethorn.
